Yellow class Poetry example

http://www.teachertube.com/viewVideo.php?video_id=98531&title=Poetry_Video

Here's a poem about basketball, written by a young person. Pay attention to the events that he's writting about, and how he decribes the moves, the emotions, the sounds. What do you think of his poem? How does this help you get a better idea for your poems?

The page we viewed in class (the one with the everyday people reading their favorite poem) can be found at http://www.favoritepoem.org/videos.html

Feel free to comment on any of those here, make sure you identify which poem you're talking about (put the title in "quotes ").

Red Kayak (drawing conclusions)

Why do you think Digger and J.T. are ignoring Brady after his heroic rescue?
If you were in Brady's shoes, how would you deal with this?

Who would you rather have as a friend Esperanza or Charlotte Doyle?

For me, Charlotte Doyle would be the person I would most like to be friends with.

First of all, Charlotte is adventurous. I want a friend who wants to get their hands dirty, take risks, one who wants to do stuff. Esperanza doesn't really seem like she's got those kinds of traits.

Charlotte also has connections. She knows people, like Zachariah, who could get us on boats and we could be off sailing the high seas, climbing the main mast, fixing sails, all that cool sailor stuff Charlotte already knows about.

To be fair though, Esperanza is probably really nice, someone you could really count on and talk to. Those are traits that really good friends have.
In conclusion: Esperanza certainly wouldn't be a bad friend to have, but I think I'd have more fun with Charlotte the sailor.
